Our Fishing Operations

Raptis is one of Australia’s largest privately owned and vertically integrated fishing companies. Not only do we own and operate 19 vessels throughout Australia, but we also source premium wild-caught Australian seafood from fisheries throughout the country.

The Northern Prawn Fishery

The Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) is Australia’s largest prawn fishery which covers 771,000km2 of tropical waters off Australia’s northern coast.

We have 14 vessels, as well as a mothership vessel that operates in the MSC certified NPF.

We catch three species of prawn in this fishery:

  • Banana prawn
  • Tiger prawn
  • Endeavour prawn

All of our wild caught prawns from this fishery are certified as sustainable and well managed by the MSC.

Gulf St Vincent Prawn Fishery

We have 1 vessel that operates in the Gulf St Vincent Prawn Fishery.

This is the largest prawn fishery in South Australia in both total catch and numbers of licenses.

Western King Prawns (Melicertus latisulcatus) are sustainably caught in this fishery.

Great Australian Bight Trawl Fishery

We have 2 trawl vessels that operate in the Great Australian Bight Trawl Fishery

This fishery is MSC certified.

We sustainably catch Deepwater Flathead (Platycephalus conatus) and Bight Redfish (Centroberyx gerrardi) from this fishery.

All certified as sustainable and well managed by the MSC.

NT Demersal fishery_image

Northern Territory Demersal Trawl Fishery

We have 1 trawl vessel that operates in the NT Demersal Trawl Fishery

This fishery is managed primarily by output (catch based) controls to ensure catches are maintained at sustainable levels.

We sustainably catch a range of tropical snappers, in particular Saddletail Snapper (L. malabaricus), Crimson Snapper (L. erythropterus) and Goldband Snapper (P. multidens) from this fishery.
