Penaeus merguiensis / Penaeus indicus
Ocean Pearl Wild Caught Banana Prawns are sustainably caught in the pristine waters of Australia’s Gulf of Carpentaria, in the MSC certified Northern Prawn Fishery. Available in two varieties: white and redleg, these prawns boast a delicate, sweet flavour profile. They are extremely versatile as they retain their shape well.
TIGER PRAWNS
Penaeus semisulcatus / Penaeus esculentus
Ocean Pearl Wild Caught Tiger Prawns are sustainably caught in the pristine waters of Australia’s Gulf of Carpentaria, in the MSC certified Northern Prawn Fishery. Available in two varieties: brown and grooved, these prawns have a moist, firm flesh with a medium flavour. Their distinctive stripes turn bright red when cooked.
KING PRAWNS
Melicertus latisulcatus
Ocean Pearl Wild Caught King Prawns are sustainably caught in the cold clean waters of South Australia’s MSC certified Spencer Gulf Prawn Fishery, as well as the Gulf St Vincent Fishery. Firm in texture, and naturally sweet, they are a magnificent looking prawn distinguishable by their vibrant blue tail ends when raw.
ENDEAVOUR PRAWNS
Metapenaeus endeavouri / Metapenaeus ensis
Ocean Pearl Wild Caught Endeavour Prawns are sustainably caught in the pristine waters of Australia’s Gulf of Carpentaria, in the MSC certified Northern Prawn Fishery. Available in two varieties: blue and red, these prawns boast a medium to strong, sweet flavour and firm texture.
Prawns are graded by number of prawns per pound. The general rule is: the smaller the number in the grade, the larger the prawn. The sizes we grade are:
